As I grow into my role as a mother I'm discovering that I've got a little mama magic. A few little powers that no one else quite else has with Lacey {but I'm sure that many mothers do have with their own children}. Here are my latest findings:
♥ I can tell with the whiff of her wee little breath if she's not feeling well. I can't actually smell if her throat is sore, or she's about to come down with something.
♥ I can tell, by placing my hand on her back, whether she's above 37.5 degrees celcius or not.
♥ I can see into the future. I can tell whether she's going to be a nightmare to settle or take out... or in general. I can tell when she's cooking up a tantrum or diva like behaviour.
♥ Whilst on the topic of cooking, I can tell when she's doing a poop just by looking at her. That little expression... It's a giveaway.
♥ But actually on the real topic of cooking... I can tell when she's not going to like a particular new food. Most of the time. Well, some of the time. Sometimes she pleasantly surprises me.
♥ And I know for sure... that each and every day... she'll make me laugh, make my heart swell with pride, want to be attached to me for 99% of the day {the girl has to be touching me every minute of the day - she has no idea about personal space! :P}, she'll surprise me, delight me... and teach me something new. She'll remind how great it is to be a mama.

I'm not a mama (someday hopefully!), and am terribly jealous of the fever detecting ability! That's something every mama I've ever known has and I hope I get it too!
ReplyDeleteAurelia has the exact same little shirt and wears it with a white skivvy and black pants as well!!
ReplyDeleteI have the same breath smelling super power - hubby just looks at me. I also have super braiding, pig tails super powers and she is toilet training most succesfully on her days with mummy. Daddy REALLY wishes he had that super power.
I also have a magic super power blow for when she bumps and hurts herself.
Yes I'm a mama and I too have similar powers.
ReplyDeleteI am lucky to have these powers because they dint only come in handy with my own children they come in handy at Kindy. With just one look I can tell when something is not right with a child at work to.
Aren't we special?
I have those powers too! I didn't even realise until I read this..... Sometimes it annoys C's dad that I know exactly how he'll react to something, or exactly what is in store for a particlar outing or night. I also have a magical kiss and cuddle that can make pain and sadness dissappear!
ReplyDeleteYes to all of those; I know when a new experience that Dardo SHOULD love will just be scary for him (looking at you, steam trains), I know when he's not feeling well even though he's playing as per usual, I know what sort of children's movies he'll like or not like.
ReplyDeleteAnd as a bonus magic power, even though I'm mum to a lil boy, there's something about me that lil girls love. I collect my son from childcare and all the girls swamp me, or if I'm shopping with him little girls will come over and talk to me. When I was teaching, other teachers would ask me to take their notoriously chaotic classes - and the girls would all just settle and sit around me and we'd just chill and talk. I bet if I ever have daughters it'll go the opposite way!
i can kiss ANYTHING better!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a mama but I just wanted to say 'CONGRATULATIONS' on getting 1,000 followers!

What a cute post Chantelle. I think we all have a little Mama Magic or Mama Powers when it comes to our kids. I know that there only things I can help my kids with because I'm the Mama and I love it that way. Love the picture of Lacey and the shirt she is wearing ... too cute. Cassie x
