{hello boys}

Meet Owen and Marty. They are just two of the boys from Hubby's surfboat crew. Looks like they've taken on modelling as a side gig. It's a great shot, don't you think?

{love}: So Give Good.

I am loving this new print from Studio Mela. It would make for a lovely little mantra to read every day. Lovely. Lovely. Lovely.

{love}: No Evil.

It's Tuesday, & I Can't Wait...

It's Tuesday, and I can't wait... for tonight.

My girlfriend is coming over for dinner. We'll watch one of our favourite shows: Australia's Next Top Model. Hubby will cook dinner. And for dessert I'm attempting to make a Tarte Tartin.

Play along with others: It's Tuesday, and I can't wait...

i heart...

i heart... deliciously warm (and slightly indulgent) hot chocolates from my local cafe.
i heart... watching masterchef at night, i never want it to end.
i heart... snuggly soft scarfs keeping my neck warm through winter.
i heart... track nine on my kings of leon cd.
i heart... hubby's delectable and healthy pumpkin soup made fresh each week.
i heart... watching my little girl explore and delight in all that life has to offer.
i heart... fresh new magazines waiting for me at my newsagent, a visual delight.
i heart... this image above, how sweet.

An Outfit.

Iris at Fleur Delice asked me: If I asked you to slip on a pair of jeans, a simple top, a pair of flat shoes, and any accessories you liked, what would you come up with? No doubt you'd come out looking vastly different to the next person, but how?

Well, to be honest... she didn't ask me. She asked everyone. And well, someone asked her the same question first, and she answered using Polyvore. So I headed over to Polyvore for the first time ever (where have a I been?) and made up a little outfit.

This is an everyday outfit for me. I wear something similiar to this everyday... minus the Marc Jacob flats.

What would your outfit look like?

{hello}

Hi there. How was your weekend? Relaxing? Fun filled?

Mine was so so. Lacey was still sick so we're all still lacking in the sleep department. I think she's on the mend though. Please. Please be on the mend.

My low from the weekend: Missing out on my good friend's farewell party. I thought I was going to get it together to go, but it was just impossible. Hopefully I'll see her before she jet sets out of here.

My high from the weekend: Getting through the mountain of washing. Rearranging Lacey's room. And listing a few items in my new etsy store, confetti hearts. Have a look here if you like.

What was your high, and your low?

Have a lovely week. I know you will. x

Friday Flare.

The weekend is almost upon us. Can you smell it? I can feel it.
I am hoping for health and happiness. They go hand in hand really. Lacey has been poorly all week, so I am hoping this weekend is full of rest and getting better. We have a farewell on Saturday so if she can be better by then, I'll be a happy Mama. We're making Magnolia Cupcakes to take along. So delicious, and indulgent. I'll share recipes and photos next week.
What are three wonderful things that happened to you this week?
Mine are:
1. I won $112.80 in lotto. That's a good start. $90 million goes off next week. It's got my name all over it.
2. I found a really cool piece of swedish type furniture on the side of the road, in council clean up. It's going to be perfect for Lacey's room. I can't wait to fix it up and give it a coat of paint.
3. My birthday present arrived from my Big Sis. It had the most beautiful card and clothes (and shoes). I can't wait to thank her in person. Well, on Skype.
What are your three wonderfuls?
Have a lovely weekend everyone. I'll see you on the other side. xx

{love}: Love.

I love looking at wedding photos and ideas. This wedding looks like so much fun, and so relaxed. The bride just looks so happy. Aren't the bridesmaids dresses fun? You can see more over here at Once Wed.

{decor}: Print Dolls.

I love this. I always have. I love the black and white. I love that just reading every suburb brings back a memory, of some sort. Find them here.

{one thing}

What is one thing that made you smile today?

Me? Well, Frankie magazine came out today and it feels like I've been waiting for it to arrive for years (when really it's been two months)... so that has me smiling.

Now I just need to find a moment to indulge, and have a read.

{love}: nest pretty things.

All these beautiful things from the one seller. Oh love! Such love. I am so in love with everything that nest pretty things has up for sale. At least I'd save on postage... I guess! The bird cage is very whimsical. Oh where to start... and then... where to stop!

Everyday Everybody: Iris.

Meet Iris. Stunning, isn't she?

Iris is the next up to be interviewed in the Everyday Everybody series. After you've finished reading about her here, pop over to Fleur Delice to read more about her and her little, delightful baboushka.

I just want to quickly apologise for two things. Firstly for those that have emailed me wanting to participate. I'm not ignoring you... I've misplaced my question book and have been meaning to look for that and then get back to you. And then secondly apologies to those waiting to see their interview. There a few on the waiting list... but your time will come.

If you want to participate, just email me at fatmumslim@hotmail.com and I will eventually get around to you. You don't have to have a blog either. Jump on in.

Now back to Iris.

Have you ever been in close proximity to someone really famous?
I once gave Paul McDermott from Good News Week a peck on the cheek.

What do you do when you get a cold?
I lie low, gargle salt water and drink lots of lemon tea.

What's your greatest fear?
To be out swimming and bump into a big shark. What on earth do you do then?

Can you use chopsticks?
Yes, 98% of the time. And the remaining 2% always involves soy sauce and a white shirt.

Have you ever said 'I love you' without meaning it?
Never!

Who do you owe money to?
Does HECS count?

How would you describe your hair at sixteen?
Long, blonde, straggly and occasionally blue (for going to the disco)

How many people always send you a birthday card?
It's very cute, at 27 I still get birthday money in a card from both my grandmothers. And often from my parents too (I'm rubbish at knowing what I want for my birthday).

Whose was the last funeral you attended?
My grandfather’s, back in 1998. Bagpipes still make me teary.

When were you last nervous?
A few months ago, on January 26th, when I went into labour. Although it wasn't the imminent arrival of my bub that made me nervous - I felt so mean to be waking my midwife at 1am!

Thanks Iris. So sweet of you to be thinking of you midwife at such a time. I'm sure she's used to being awake at odd times. xx

Tag: I'm it.

Kell over at Natsukashii tagged me. Not one to shy away from any type of game... here is how I am playing the game.

What is your current obsession?
Sleep. How much I'm getting. How much I'm not. I can't wait until I don't care about it anymore, or moreso don't need to care about it.

What’s for dinner?
Lamb cutlets (marinated in a really nice sauce) and vegetables. Cooked by Hubby.

What’s the last thing you bought?
Purple shampoo and conditioner for my brassy hair.

What are you listening to right now?
A Hi-5 DVD. My saviour in this time of teething.

If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go?
Scotsdale, Arizona for some time with my Sis.

Which language do you want to learn?
Sign language.

What do you love most about where you currently live?
Everywhere you look is beauty. If you squint you can't see all the crap the backpackers (I'll blame them) have left on the sides of the streets.

What is your favourite colour?
White, today.

What is your favorite piece of clothing in your own wardrobe?
A black dress. My wardrobe needs another re-sort. I'm sure to find other favourites hiding back there. Somewhere.

Describe your personal style?
I don't think I have any style at the moment! So I'd prefer not to describe it all.

If you had $300 now, what would you spend it on?
A new printer.

What are you going to do after this?
Clean.

What are your favourite films?
Good Will Hunting. The Notebook. Beaches. And I can't remember any more right now.

Your favourite smell?
Body Shop Strawberry Body Butter.

Do you collect anything?
Buttons and Erasers.

What makes you follow a blog?
I'm pretty shallow. I love a beautiful blog. I go on aesthetics first.

Do you like to comment on blogs or just lurk?
I wish I found blogs before I had Lacey because I'd spend all my time reading them. I love to comment... but never get time to. Darn it.

What’s one thing you dream of doing?
Getting on top of all these sleep problems. And winning lotto.

What is your biggest regret?
No regrets, only lessons learnt.

What is your favourite thing to do on a rainy day?
Stay inside and keep dry, and warm.

Do you have a tattoo?
No, Hubby has enough for the both of us.

What are you favourite books?
True stories are ones I like best.

Are you left handed, right handed, ambidextrous, or a little of both?
All right here.

What is the single most defining moment in your life so far?
Getting married, and then having Lacey. That's two, I know. I cheated.

I know lots of people have had this tag lately. So if you haven't... consider yourself tagged. xx

Six Word Love Story.

I was reading an old (I assume) Reader's Digest at the Doctors yesterday. It had a sweet little article about a book on love boiled down to just six words. There were some really funny examples, some bitter, some lovely. The one above is what I came up with for the loves in my life.

What is your love story in six words?

It's Tuesday, & I Can't Wait...

Having been away for the past two weekends, and with the constant rain... well our laundry and house cleaning has got a bit behind. I am looking forward to this weekend when I can start getting back on top of it all.

So that's what I can't wait for. Those simple things in life... a sparkling clean home, crisp linen, soft clean towels... I love that. Pleased. Easily. xx

Cake, For You.

As a thank you for all your kind wishes for my birthday, as well as your support when I was in the midst of sleep deprivation (your words gave me glimmers of hope) and for voting for my friend Sheree... I have cake for you.
If I could I'd send a little cupcake to each and every one of you. Instead you may have to settle for a little visual delight. How beautiful is this little picture? If I catch you licking the computer screen... you're in trouble. Unless you're by yourself, then it may just be acceptable.
Thank you for your virtual company and wishes... in return a virtual cupcake for you. The bonus is that it has zero calories. xx

Ikea's Little Helper.

A couple of weeks ago when I was putting together some Ikea furniture Lacey decided to help me. I was trying to screw some things in and she came in and sat in here like this... by herself. Of course she couldn't get out herself... but she didn't really want to. She wanted to sit in there like that for as long as possible. She's like that with everything. If I'm on my laptop, she wants to sit on it, even stand on it. If I'm reading a magazine, she'll climb onto it and stand on it.

She's my little shadow really. xx

Birthday Weekend Wonderful.

Hello there. How was your weekend? Are you happy to see Monday?

We had a lovely weekend. We ended up heading into the City... in our sleep deprived state, hoping for a miracle (or just sleep really!).

We stayed at the Fraser Suites in the City. I booked using the Secret Hotels on LastMinute.com.
For those that haven't used that before, we love it. You purchase a room in a five star hotel in the location of your choice without knowing what the actual hotel is. It's a secret until you make payment and then they let you know the name of the hotel. Since it's a secret, you get it at a bargain price.

The picture above is the view from our room. It was great in the City lights.

Friday night was a disaster sleep wise. I couldn't wait for the morning to roll around so that the sleeping game was over and because it was my birthday.

I woke to two beautiful cards, one from Hubby and another from Lacey. We had a beautiful breakfast and then headed out for the day.

We walked to the Aquarium and showed Lacey the delights of the Ocean. I don't know who enjoyed it more, Lacey or Hubby. It was beautiful to see the two of them awestruck by the fish (and sharks!).
I love this photo above. Hubby took it. It was like he was having a long chat with the fish. He is a bit of an ocean baby, so it's pretty spot on.

As we were getting ready to leave the Aquarium the skies opened up, and the rain came down. Of course we didn't have umbrellas or coats... so we got drenched. It didn't stop us shopping though. We did a spot of shopping and then headed 'home'. The two kids (Lacey and Hubby) had a little nap and I headed out for a massage.
Well, it was meant to be a massage but it was a little more like torture. I had use my best labour breathing techniques to survive it. I loved it though. I haven't had a massage in years... so she was getting rid of all the knots and tension. I can hardly move today.
We finished off the night with a big seafood platter at a waterside restaurant, and then Ma and Lil Sis took Lacey for a sleepover, and Hubby and I had the most luxurious WHOLE nights sleep.
So that was my birthday weekend. How was your weekend? What was your high, and what was your low?
My High: Having a big, big sleep in the softest bed ever. Rejuvenated doesn't even begin to explain it.
My Low: Friday night. It was the longest, most frustrating night in history. Sleep deprivation is a killer.
Tell me about your weekend. xx

A Favour.

I have a BIG favour (or favor as it may be to some) to ask.

I won't ask you to vote for Lacey in a Cutest Baby Competition, or even to vote for Shane in the Hunkiest Hubby Awards but I'm asking you to vote for something else.

My uber talented friend, Sheree, has created an a-mah-zing kids television show. It's really creative and funky.

Her video has been nominated for The Children's Choice APRA awards, and is now one of the 3 finalists. That means she's close to winning!

We can help her win by voting for her video Buttons - 123 Tree over here. You don't need to sign up or anything. Just click on the link, scroll down and vote for Buttons. Easy.

I'll let you know when she wins. In the meantime check out the video. So cute. Be warned though, it takes 28.3 hours to get the song out of your head!

Wishes For Your Weekend.

Missed me? I haven't been anywhere exciting. Just trying to survive on no sleep. This week has been torture sleep wise. Nothing you haven't heard before though. I've just had nothing left in the tank so this place missed out. I hope to be back next week though, with no bags under my eyes and a little more pizazz.

Just quickly... isn't it funny how much sleep deprivation effects you? I can barely type. I can barely string a sentence together. It really is a form of torture, I'm sure.

What are 3 wonderful things that happened to you this week?

1. I was happily surprised when I stumbled across the new desktop wallpapers at Kindred this week. Especially when I saw the beautiful one (above) from Caitlin Shearer. It's currently my wallpaper. A few months ago Amanda from Swish and Swanky sent me two little works from Caitlin (who is an Aussie) as a little thank you. I love them and was so happy to see Caitlin had created a sweet wallpaper too.

2. Yesterday morning was a disaster of sorts. A lost sports shoe. Torrential rain. Running Late. Miss 6 (at work) has a wicked little sense of humour. Yesterday she had me falling to the floor, cracking up, with tears in my eyes. Even throughout the day I would stop in my tracks, cracking up, remembering the morning.

3. Happy Mail. Every day this week a little bit of loveliness arrived in the post for me. I ♥ Happy Mail.

What about you? What are your wonderfuls?

We've decided we'll probably postpone our City jaunt this weekend, to another time. I am more than happy to spend time with my loved ones at home. I hope you all have a lovely weekend. Mine will involve cake and cuddles. Happy birthday to me. xx

Far Out, Brussels Sprout!

Little Miss L still isn't sleeping.

If it's teeth, may they come through VERY quickly.

I just want to sleep.

That is all. x

Random Act of Kindness.

Originally when I read that the next Blog This challenge was about Random Acts of Kindness I was excited, it was right up my alley.

When I was in my teens I joined the RAOK Movement. They had an annual day and they celebrated all acts of kindness, as well as promoting it throughout the year.

I like to help people, I like to make others lives easier. I like to see people smile.

When I read that it was about when people had performed Random Acts of Kindness for me... I racked my brain. My brain hurt. In it's foggy sleep deprivedness I couldn't think of one major act. I thought I might give this challenge a miss.

It's not that people haven't been kind to me. Oh boy, they have. Ma used to write little random notes for me telling me how much she loved me, friends threw me a cute surprise party for me once. A friend kindly made our wedding cake. People around me are really kind.

Once my car broke down in the steep exit in the Westfield's car park. Men from all the cars behind me pushed the car up the steep drive and out onto the street. They were really kind. I am not sure if they were more driven because they wanted to get out of the car park, or just because they saw a damsel in distress.

It was only when I was reading (and crying) over Liss' blog that I remembered the most touching moment of recent times.

Lacey wasn't a happy baby. I don't know why. She had us as parents, she really should have been overjoyed.

The first month was really hard. She cried a lot. It was like the Fourth Trimester, she just didn't seem to be ready to be out in the big bad world.

I remember my neighbour saying: I hear you've had the baby. I've heard her crying.

That was the last thing I wanted to hear, but I knew it wouldn't be forever. Lacey was just adjusting to the world. She'd find her tiny little feet in time.

We had lots of visitors. Most came and baby gazed for a little while, and then moved on. They bought gifts. I prayed that Lacey would be quiet for the duration of their visit. Sometimes she did, sometimes I felt like it felt apart. My anxiety levels rose.

When Lacey was a month old a friend came to visit. A little anxiety set in, as it always did. It felt different this time. As soon as Ronnie walked through the door I felt the anxiety leave.

Ronnie is a friend that I just click with. She knew when I was pregnant just by looking at me. She knew before I tested. We could, and have, talked for hours. She's special.

When Ronnie met Lacey she asked how we were doing, and what her routines were like. I told her everything. How the past month was. How Lacey was unsettled.

Ronnie turned into this magic fairy. Instead of just nodding and lending her ear... she jumped right in. Come on. Let's try and get her worked out, she insisted.

That couple of hours I spent with Ronnie and Lacey was life changing. Hearing someone else's opinion and having them become so hands on was brilliant. I felt so hopeful that day. I felt like I could see the sunshine through the fog.

Ronnie texted me on and off through the weeks after that day. She called. She offered to be there for me, whenever.

Ronnie was like my security blanket. I knew she was there if I needed. She was always just a text or phone call away.

As a Nanny, I've been that magic fairy for others. I've been called the sleep whisperer. I know how to settle babies and make them sleep.

It was different as a Mama though... and having Ronnie come in and just help, well it's one act of kindness that I'll never forget. xx

Wonderful Weekend.

What a lovely weekend!

We left on Friday afternoon for the South Coast. I was so excited all Friday, with butterflies in my stomach I couldn't wait to arrive. We were staying at a beautiful beachfront house with family to celebrate my Aunt's 60th birthday.

We arrived just after five just as it was getting dark. Usually Lacey isn't good in the car so I was anxious about the drive. We brought our little portable DVD player and put Hi-5 on for her. The look on her face as I handed it to her was priceless. She was so happy. It made the trip a whole lot easier. She only grizzled for the last 5km.

The house was beyond a-mah-zing. I love looking at holiday houses to rent and when my aunt asked me to look up houses... I was in my element. When I spotted this house on on the web, I thought it was ideal... but the pictures really didn't do it any justice. Like I said, it was amazing.

We had a quiet, delicious dinner and headed to bed early. Lacey screamed for most of the night. I have no idea what was going on. Without my trusty dryer sleeping technique, I was lost. It was such a long night and I was so glad when it hit 6am so I could stop playing the sleeping charade and get up. I was treated with the sunrise for all my efforts. A beautiful one at that.

We had a party for 25 people on Saturday, which was a hit. There was cake. Four, in fact. And singing. And then later in the night there was dancing.

I headed to bed early and hoped that Lacey was planning on sleeping, but she wasn't. I don't know if she's getting new teeth or something... but she was really unsettled. I know she is going through that separation anxiety stage. I think she missed her Dada, as I did too. I think she also missed home.

My Lil Sis and I just decided that it was probably best they we head home early. There were lots of little people running around, and the noise wasn't helping in keeping Lacey settled. So we headed back home. As soon as Lacey saw Hubby she smothered him in cuddles and she was instantly more settled.

It was actually nice to have a whole day at home to wash all the clothes, for Lacey to catch up on missed sleep and to relax.

As Mia said on MamaMia last week:

Going away with your kids is not a holiday and bears no resemblance to the
activity of the same name in which you partook when childless. It's simply
called 'moving the children to a different location without any of the necessary props you have at home and making life infinitely more difficult for the adults'.

I think there might just be a little bit of truth in that.

All in all though, a lovely weekend. Now I look forward to enjoying my last week at the ripe old age of 28. Joy. xx

Fabulous Friday.

Good morning. What a cold and chilly morning it is in Sydney, and pretty much all of Australia, I'm sure. Brrrrrr.

I'm excited about our weekend away. I get an early mark today so Lacey and I (unfortunately Hubby is staying home as he has some things to do ie. work) will be heading South for the weekend early in the afternoon.

So to end the week on a positive note I am going to share three wonderful things that happened this week.

1. I set up my little office space. Putting together Ikea furniture at night with a toddler roaming around was particularly chaotic... but I got there. And I love it.
2. Lacey is a happy and healthy little monkey. She has been so funny. As one lady said this week: She's full of personality. She really is and is so hilarious. She makes us laugh so much.
3. I got a surprise card in the mail. The card was beautiful and just made my day. Thank you to that special someone for my card. I love it.

What are you 3 wonderfuls from this week?

Have a lovely weekend. I have my ugg boots all packed, as well as my Uno cards. It's going to be such a lovely weekend. xx

Be My Guest.

Inspired by Sunday Life magazine... I thought I would dream up my own little dinner party.

Which four guests would I invite?
Hubby (because I love him, and he might have to cook), Oprah, Ellen and Sarah McLachlan.

Where is dinner?
I'd like to say Oprah's house, or even Ellen's but because I'm hosting I better have it at mine.

What are the conversation topics?
I think I'll let everyone else do the talking... and I'll just soak up the conversation. I'll laugh at Ellen's jokes (and Hubby's), learn all about everything from Oprah and listen to Sarah sing.

What's on the menu?
Probably lamb and vegetables and a chocolate pavlova for dessert.

Who would you sit beside?
Hubby, so I can kick him when I'm kicking myself at how amazing everything is.

Who would be the last to leave?
Us. Because it's our house, and we don't have to leave.

Who's the fussiest eater?
Ellen... because she's vego and vegan... and I hadn't factored that into the menu, til now.

Who would you keep separated?
I think everyone would get along so there would be no need to separate anyone.

Who is at your dinner party? And what's on the menu?

Favourite Photo Tag.

I am starting a new tag thingy. Just because... I want to and I guess, I can.

It's really simple. I love how every photo tells a story. Some short stories, some long tales. I want to know what is your favourite photo of yourself. Everyone has one. The photo they look at and smile. It reminds them of something, some time, some place. A moment in time.

So share the photo, share the story and then tag three other people. I want to see photos and stories all around the blogosphere.

Copy and paste the writing that is in bold as well as the polaroid above onto your blog, and then select three other people/blogs to tag. I am going to select 23 blogs to tag because I want to get the ball rolling... and it's my most favourite number EVER.

So I tag:

Life As A Goff
Swish + Swanky
Creative Neesh
Live Life
The Happy Home
Luxe Chandelier
Style Plus
Made By Girl
Fashion Hayley
She Will Have Her Way
Oh Brooke
Life As Kir
Skylark + Son
ButtonsByLouLou
Ivy Designs
L-Plates
Nellbe's Scribblings
Pink Patent Mary Janes

Stepford Dreams
That Random Leila
The Red Deer
Tiny Concept

Frills in the Hills

Gosh, I could have went on and on. If you're not tagged. Don't fret. Just do it anyway... or wait a few days and I'm sure the tagging bug will hit you. If you don't have a blog and want to share your photo and story... just email me and I'd set it up and put it on here.

Here is my photo and story:

My Favourite Photo: This photo was taken in October 2005. It was on the first day of our honeymoon, two days after our wedding. I had this photo still in it's packet and hadn't looked at it for years until a few months ago. As soon as I re-stumbled across it a big smile lit up my face. I was so happy. I felt healthy, blissfully happy and just incredibly content. I'd had a great time at the wedding (despite a few too many champagnes, perhaps!) and was looking forward to our holiday.

We had to stay one night in a crappy hotel (like... shower in your thongs kinda crappy) before heading out to our island. They were weird little lizards running around everywhere, cane toads outside our room and I ate dinner with my feet on the chair because there were feral cats everywhere. Hubby had the job of booking the honeymoon. I wasn't sure what the island was going to be like ... but I didn't care. I knew we were going to be happy, laughing the whole time. The island ended up being paradise. Such bliss! xx

Our Investment Property.

I had to have this house. I researched lots of different properties, but this one best suited our needs. It was a great blank canvas. I could pick which furniture I wanted. It had enough room for every one and suited our taste.

So we bought the house. The doll house.

It came unfurnished and without a family.

I soon discovered that furnishing this house was going to be an expensive adventure. The lounge alone cost nearly $40. I wanted art works, rugs, clocks, cups, knives, forks, BBQ, garden, pets... and the list goes on.

Now I should stop here for a moment. Is it weird that I want these things, and not Lacey? Probably. She's not old enough to get excited about it all. I think dolls houses bring out the inner child within us. My Lil Sis and Big Sis got equally excited about helping pick furniture. I didn't feel so weird once I knew we were feeling the same.

So far I only have the lounge room sorted. It even has a plasma TV (which actually lights up). You see the the house can be lit up by electricity. You can chose your own light fittings.. be them lamps or wall fittings.

The family that lives in this house is having a bit of family troubles. You see the Mum is a bit of a skank (for lack of a better word). So skanky that I couldn't even find her for the shoot. She must have been out partying. The only outfit she has is a strapless blue dress. Her boobs are always falling out. She looks like she's wearing last nights make up. She's got that raccoon black eye look going on. She has triplet newborns and a daughter.

And she even lets her 6 year old daughter wear mascara. It couldn't get more wrong, could it?

I wonder if I can get Dr. Phil in mini size to sort this family out.

Unfortunately my close up photo shooting skills are lacking. I focused on the table instead of the little girls face, so you can't see her mascara. You get the idea though, right?

{love}: Proper Shoes.

I've been holding off for a while now in getting Lacey fitted for her first walkers (non-crib shoes). She's been walking now confidently since January. Usually parents are advised to wait 6-8 weeks after their children start walking to get proper shoes. So we were well due.

We took her to a good little shoe shop over the weekend to get fitted. I was still unsure whether she was ready so asked the fitting specialist. As Lacey was running around the shop, she remarked, "She's running, she's ready".

Lacey loves any attention. So sitting up on the bench getting her feet measured and trying on shoe after shoe was right up her alley.

Eventually we left with these lovely black mary janes. It's so funny to see Lacey clomping around in them. She still seems too tiny to be walking, let alone wearing proper shoes.

Where has my baby gone? xx

Everyday Everybody: Jordan.

Hi there.

It's Wednesday... and that means it's time to meet someone new. Let's get to know Jordan a little better. What a great idea.

Jordan blogs over at Hey Peppermint. After you've finished getting to know her here, pop over there and get to know her a little better.

Are you addicted to anything?
I have a very special obsession with postsecret. No matter how bad my week is, every Sunday it manages to cheer me up. I always find relevance in them, there are so many that touch me and remind me to always be grateful.

What day of your life would you happily relive?
The first 'date' I ever went on with my boyfriend, and my cousin and her friend tagged along. It was so awkward. But looking back on it now, it seems just perfect. We walked around and got Red Rooster. The part I'd relive is when he hugged me first, I fit just perfectly. My head fits right under his head, we're the perfect heights. We've been together for three years now and I couldn't be happier.

What was the first CD/record you ever bought?
Wow, I think it was a Shania Twain album. I was obsessed with the song "Man, I Feel Like A Woman". Anything I bought after that consisted of the 'So Fresh' compilations. I have much better taste now though, although that could be questioned too.

What's your all-time favourite meal?
There are so many I could write down. I love wonton noodle soup, big bowls of pasta and enormous amounts of pavlova.

What's your greatest fear?
Heights.I hate being anywhere that's remotely high.I think it came from being on the Rialto Tower when I was little. My Mum took me onto the balcony, and told me to look down. Since I can remember, whenever I can see how far up I am, I get the buckling knees thing and butterflies in the stomach.

What song is guaranteed to get you on the dance floor?
Give me a bit of "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" by Wham or some classic Michael Jackson tunes and I'll be doing my whole attempting-to-dance thing.

Who's the worst boss you've ever worked for?
(This one's a bit hard, I've only ever really had two jobs) My Mum always told me you don't mix family and work. It's ironic because the first job i ever had was at my Aunty's business and unfortunately she took the title for worst boss ever. I think it was because she wasn't my lovely, caring aunty I was used to. She was kinda like the mean boss, who made the youngest (being me) do all of the cliche' getting the coffee's and running ridiculous errands. I didn't last long, I was a really useless when it came to filing.

Can you use chopsticks?
My Japanese teacher in Primary School put lollies in a bowl one day. All of us little kiddies lined up as he taught us how to use chopsticks to pick up gummi bears. I still remember going home and showing Mum, I was so proud. I resort to some stabbing with chopsticks when we go out to Yum Cha, bu I'm better than most.

What makes you cry?
This is a tough one. Songs that tug at my heart strings, songs that make me feel something all over again. At my great grandmothers funeral they played "You Raise Me Up" by Westlife. Whenever I hear that song, I cry. She was someone very, very special to me.

What was the first gig you ever went to?
Kylie Minogue. I was absolutely and utterly in love with her. I sang "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" into my hairbrush, wishing that when I grew up I would be just like Kylie. It was one of the best concerts and to this day, I can still remember all of the lyrics.

Thanks Jordan. I love that your teacher made you learn how to use chopsticks like that. So cute.

I also love reading these interviews. I really do. Thanks for playing along. xx

{love}: Wall Art.

I'm so excited about my little space. I am going to have a little office space. It's going to be small, but I'm going to maximise it's potential to it's very last inch.

I gave my Ma one of these prints for Mother's Day for her new photo wall. I got it in black. Now I want one. I have a really neat blue frame that I would put the grey one in, or I would get one of the big Ikea frames to put the pink poster in.

So much to think about. If I could get the pink in the smaller size, and pop it in the blue frame... it would be a candy coloured feast for the eyes.

I'm going to keep on thinking.

The prints are available here. xx
